Things the staff must contemplate when changes are suggested are:
Each class comes with its own unique set of challenges if we take this away what do you have left?
There are players that feel that challenges are why they created there characters in the first place. They feel fulfillment with the challenge. We have to keep them in mind.
If we strip this away whats left? An easy character?
When changes are made we also need to think what do they affect and who do they affect? Pvp, Pve, and Bossing.
Does this change break one of these?
Will there be a balanced upset?
Will this change cause server problems?
Will players be unhappy or happy?
Are we getting to far from the original development teams intention?
Will things being to easy cause players to have it to easy and be done after a few weeks and leave?
Will this change cause error?
Will the balance in Pvp be upset?
Hello,
Just my point of view on this issue:
I do agree that every class in Trickster Online was created for a reason and purpose. As an example, Charms were meant to be tanky, Magic types were meant to be support characters with aoes, debuffs, snare/stun, and healing abilities, whilst Power types were designed to be powerful. However, I must say that it is impossible to keep the balance and stick to the old rules when the server has already introduced plenty of unoriginal items such as JP/TH and god knows what equips and items.
These items caused constructive disruptions to the server, as can be easily seen in every Trickster server with innovative items and features such as Auction House, extreme exp gains, etc etc (list goes on as every TO server has unique features of their own to differentiate themselves). Equips became very strong, and monsters became a lot weaker (relatively). Galder became easy to make, together with the feature of allowing galders to be traded for Myshop points, Myshop points became relatively easy to make, and hence buying items off Myshop became an easy task. With all that being said, I love this feature, and I'm sure everybody does. But the point I'm trying to convey here is that this is a constructive disruption to the original economy as designed by Ntreev, and hence, you cannot keep following the ideology introduced by the original server.
That aside, even the original company did make changes and constantly introduce fresh contents, with the obvious one being Trickster Online Season 2. Understanding that creating new maps, new quests and new npcs are kinda out of the question, introducing changes to skills/equips/classes might just become the one thing that keeps players engaged. And... keeping them engaged and at the same time advertising the game a little (maybe even pay for ads on facebook)... might revive the game.
IF you're worried about players being unhappy, for the mods who don't even log into the game as much as players do, I can tell you that there aren't many players left to be left unhappy. Will the balance in pvp be upset? check pvp everyday, you'll realise it's currently too balanced.. it's empty. (people announce server wide using TBNs to hopefully find a partner to spar with...). Who do they affect and how do they affect? Power types can already one or two hit lvl 999 bosses with millions upon millions of HP... what else can the introduction of a slight modification to the skills of UNPOPULAR chars like lions or kitties do? Worried about foxes asking for buff? then give them the buff.... what do restaurants do when you order food? they give you food. What does Samsung do when customers demand a better camera phone? they make new phones with better cameras. Maybe the changes only produce a short term satisfaction and the operators of this game might worry they're going to leave after they finished their short-term satisfaction, I should tell you that people have already left. A lot of them. Really. Give the people who pay you what they want, they continue to pay you. You can't give them what they want, they pay somebody else.
In terms of the modifications causing error, I have no comment. If it works, great, if it doesn't.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm not siding anyone posting this, I simply want the game to go on! FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR cuz it's my childhood, it's my stress reliever, and I love it
R-r-r-regards,
WB~
